Caroline Haslett Primary School
Funding for Sport and PE Provision Improvement
In April 2013, the government declared a certain amount of funding for physical education and school sport. Every school, including Caroline Haslett Primary, has received a sum that has, and will continue, to be used to improve the breadth of our provision.
The school is responsible for determining how the funding is best used. We believe, as a school, that this funding will support us improve our physical education and sports provision and help us to further our approach.

This funding allowed us to improve the quality and breadth of provision by making the following improvements:
- The PE work scheme has increased the knowledge and skills of staff in teaching PE and sport.
- Having the opportunity to introduce sports such as cricket and korfball, has allowed us to offer a broader experience and range of sports and activities to our pupils. This has also increased our participation in competitive sport.
- Milton Keynes SSP School Project award 2016 for the increase in children participating in breakfast, lunch and after school active clubs.
- Milton Keynes SSP Student Led activities award 2016 for children leading lunchtime clubs and assisting in curriculum delivery.
- Weekly swimming lessons have helped to enable children to achieve the curriculum expectation of confidently swimming at least 25 metres.
- Our playground fitness markings have allowed all children to regularly participate in physical activity by encouraging them to exercise at playtimes. This, therefore, has enabled them to help kick-start a healthy lifestyle.
- The school has been able to increase its representative opportunities for pupils by providing a wider variety of sports and equipment to support this.
- The school has provided opportunities for competitions within school and outside school covering all costs for these activities.
- Our annual subscription in the Milton Keynes Sports Partnership Silver package, has given us greater access to sporting events for the academic year.
- All of the above has supported us to achieve the Silver Sports Games Award 2016.

In addition to all of the resources bought in 2015-2016, the funding for this year will continually allow us to improve the quality and breadth of provision by making the following improvements:
- With the help of specialist sports coaches, the profile of sport and PE will be raised across the school.
- The confidence and knowledge of teaching staff will continue to grow with the support of the Milton Keynes Sports Partnership Silver package.
- Annual subscription to the Milton Keynes Sports Partnership Silver package will enable us to continue to enter ‘a’, ’b’ and ‘c’ teams in sporting events for the academic year.
- The new school minibus will make travelling to a variety of events and competitions a lot more accessible, therefore, enabling the school to increase its participation in competitive sport. In addition, a wider variety of sports, competitions and clubs are more accessible to all children including pupil premium and those with SEN.
- The school minibus is a very sustainable investment as it reduces the outlay on vehicle hire. It also helps to act as a clear and eye-catching representative of the school.
- All of the above will support the school in achieving its Gold Sports Games Award.
- We continue to purchase and up-date our equipment to use within lessons as well as clubs e.g. outdoor basketball hoops which are used for lessons, clubs, competitions and at playtimes.
As a school, we will continue to monitor and evaluate the impact that all of the above resources have on our pupils.
