Our Year 6 pupils (non-residential) embarked on an exciting outdoor learning adventure during a nature walk around Furzton Lake.

The children were challenged to spot unusual natural items, and they found feathers, berries and flowers. Their wildlife spotting included flocks of geese, a heron and ducks. The children were particularly intrigued by the buoys which led to some great discussions about why they were placed in the lake and how they help with water navigation and safety.

During our visit, Year 6 learnt Furzton Lake is a man-made "balancing lake that collects rainfall to prevent flooding in nearby residential areas during heavy storms. They also discovered the lake includes its own islands, which provide a safe nesting site for wildlife.
