The children have been learning about how we know the Earth is a spherical body that orbits the Sun, and how it relates to other planets in our solar system.

They began by exploring the discoveries of the famous scientist Aristotle, who helped prove that the Earth is round and not flat.

To bring this to life, the children carried out their own investigation, testing Aristotle’s theory about how a boat seems to disappear over the horizon.

This sparked great curiosity amongst our Year 5 scientists.
